Looking for a way to raise your spirits and shake off that cabin fever? The Evergreen Chorale’s second annual Swing Into Spring at the Evergreen Lake House is just the ticket! William and the Romantics will perform at the Evergreen Lakehouse, 29612 Upper Bear Creek Road in Evergreen, on Friday, May 6, from 6:00-10:00pm. This special evening of 1940s music and swing dancing will include a group swing dance lesson, dinner, drinks, and a silent auction. Tickets are $65/adults, $55/under 21, and are available by calling 303-674-4002 or online at www.evergreenchorale.org.
“So many people came out last year and enjoyed the great music of the 40s – the dance floor was full all night,” said Michelle O’Laughlin, co-chair of the event. “This year will be even better! We’ll have table seating for everyone, and delicious hors d’oeuvres by Bistro Colorado and desserts by Gateaux, and we are working with EAS+Y to make it a zero-waste event.”
Swing Into Spring will be a unique opportunity to step back in time and enjoy the music of Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, and others and watch or participate in swing dancing in the beautiful setting of Evergreen Lake House. Entertainment will be provided by William and the Romantics, a 20-piece big band that performs regularly at the Mercury Café in Denver and in other regional venues. In addition, Todd & Reese Dewey of Swingin’ Denver will lead a group swing dance lesson from 6:00-7:00pm to help the uninitiated learn some basic dance moves so they can perfect them during the rest of the evening. Guests are encouraged to dress in vintage or semi-formal attire in keeping with the 1940s theme.
The all-inclusive ticket price of $65 per person includes dance instruction, entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and coupons for 2 adult beverages; tickets for those under 21 are $55. Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on some fantastic items in a silent auction, including a week at the historic A Bar A Ranch – a premier Wyoming guest ranch, 4 one-day passes to Disneyland, 2 domestic round-trip tickets on SouthWest Airlines; tickets to Swallow Hill Music concerts, gift certificates to local restaurants and theaters, and much more. Bidding will also open to those who cannot attend via an online bidding service. More information on the event, and the silent auction. is available at www.EvergreenChorale.org. Auction proceeds benefit the Chorale’s Summer Music Camp scholarship fund and Center Stage, the historic theater in Evergreen owned by the Evergreen Chorale.
