Fresh from their acclaimed performance in A Man of No Importance at the Arvada Center, Colcannon will bring their authentic, joyous Irish music played with panache, warmth and wit to Center Stage in Evergreen for three concerts with the Evergreen Chorale. Together the two groups will present toe-tapping and heart warming Irish music, including such favorites as The Rocky Road to Dublin, Dulaman, An Irish Blessing, Green Grow the Rushes, She Moved Through the Fair and much more. An evening filled with timeless songs and great musicianship will transport the audience to another time and place.
Christine Gaudreau, Artistic and Musical Director of the Evergreen Chorale, is one of eight conductors from across the globe invited to attend the first Eric Ericson International Choral Centre “Conducting 21C” masterclass offered outside of Stockholm, a prestigious conductors’ workshop to be held June 16 – 20 during the Yale International Choral Festival. This course aims to provide conductors with professional development by combining artistic excellence and social justice. This select group of emerging and experienced conductors alike from across the globe will develop powerfully creative, profoundly artistic, and compassionate approaches for musical leadership through master classes and workshops.
Outstanding choirs from throughout the world will come together for five days of singing, learning, and exploring the connections that choral music fosters between people. A symposium entitled Choirs Transforming Lives, organized in association with the International Federation for Choral Music’s Conductors Without Borders network and the American Choral Directors Association’s International Conductors Exchange Program, will explore the ways in which people throughout the US and the world are using choral music to create positive social change, promote mental well-being, and foster community.
Under Ms. Gaudreau’s direction since 2010, the Chorale has expanded in terms of membership and artistic reach, enhancing the quality of its musical productions and establishing partnerships with such noted groups as the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra, Colcannon, Fiesta Colorado, and others. Christine was born and raised in Germany, where she studied dance and voice. She completed undergraduate degrees in voice performance and music history and a Masters Degree in Choral Conducting as well as study in orchestral conducting. Since then she has conducted choral, theater, and orchestral music in California, Italy, North Carolina, and Colorado.
This is the final production of the Chorale’s 2014-15 season. They will take a break over the summer and be back in September with four weeks of the musical Chicago, at Center stage from September 11 through October 4. Tickets for Chicago will be available starting August 1.
