The Evergreen Chorale presents “Kiss Me Kate” September 12 through September 28 at Center Stage, 27608 Fireweed Drive, Evergreen, CO, 80439. Performances are Fridays, Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are $22 Adults; $18 seniors (62+)/Students, $15 children, $17 groups of 10 or more and available by calling 303-674-4002 or online at www.evergreenchorale.org.

The musical is the classic 40’s show-within-a-show musical comedy, based on The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare. Considered Cole Porter’s most successful musical, it opened on Broadway in 1948 and captured five Tony Awards, plus another five when it was revived in 2000. It has it all – star-crossed romances, singing gangsters (no kidding), fabulous costumes, and lively dance numbers. The Chorale production features Meg Ozaki as Kate/Lilli, Brian Sides (Smudge in Forever Plaid and Juan Peron in Evita) as Petruchio/Fred, and a talented supporting cast drawn from Evergreen and the Denver area. You’ll leave the theater singing songs such as “Another Op’nin’, Another Show”, “Too Darn Hot”, and “So In Love”.

The show is directed by Tim Kennedy who is visiting from the Loveland Opera Company where he recently directed The Mikado. Christine Gaudreau, now in her fifth season with the Chorale, provides musical direction. Choreographer Rachael Lessard just finished her fourth season as head choreographer for Magic Moments, Inc. and recently choreographed Godspell for Envision Theatre and served as assistant director of Spamalot at StageDoor Theatre. Elisa Campbell returns as stage and production manager, and costumes have been created by Amy Bergevin and Linda Bolinger. The set has been designed by Lori Worthman, and lighting designed by Cassidy Calkins.
