The Evergreen Chorale is excited to announce that William and the Romantics will perform at the Evergreen Lakehouse, 29612 Upper Bear Creek Road in Evergreen, on Friday, April 24, from 6:00-10:00pm. This special evening of 1940s music and swing dancing, a fundraiser for the Chorale and Center Stage, will include a group swing dance lesson, dinner, drinks, and a live auction. Tickets range from $65-$125, and are available by calling 303-674-4002 or online at www.evergreenchorale.org.

Swing Into Spring will be a unique opportunity to step back in time and enjoy the music of Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, and others and watch or participate in swing dancing in the beautiful setting of Evergreen Lakehouse. Entertainment will be provided by William and the Romantics, a big band swing ensemble that performs regularly at the Mercury Café in Denver and in other regional venues. In addition, Kenny Nelson of Swingin’ Denver will lead a group swing dance lesson from 6:00-7:00pm to help the uninitiated learn some basic dance moves so they can perfect them during the rest of the evening. Guests are encouraged to dress in vintage or semi-formal attire, and there will be a roving photographer to capture images that people can purchase.

The all- inclusive ticket price of $65 per person includes dance instruction, entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, 2 adult beverages and parking. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available at $125, which include all of the above plus a private buffet, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, dessert, a private seating area, a designated parking area, and one photo per couple. Mid-way through the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on some fantastic auction items, including artwork; a theatre-lovers package featuring tickets to several area theaters; tickets to the 1940s Ball in Boulder; and much more.

“We looked at a variety of options when planning our spring fundraiser, and when one of our members suggested an evening of 1940s music we loved the idea,” said Christine Gaudreau, artistic director of the Chorale. “It is our mission to bring high-quality music to our community, and we saw this as an opportunity to present a something different here. There is a resurgence of interest in the music of the 40s – look at the popularity of swing dance lessons and other 40s themed events in Denver.”

The 100-member singing group is currently rehearsing for two upcoming concerts. On May 17 at the Green Center of the School of Mines in Golden, they will perform Brahms’ Requiem with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra. On June 5, 6, and 7th, the Emmy-award winning band Colcannon will join the Chorale for three performances of Irish and Celtic music at Center Stage in Evergreen.
